People seem to forget that the “I love you” came last, and that’s what made the clone react. As I sit here on the sidelines, watching the gifs of that scene and other scenes, I can’t help to think this relationship is going to turn out romantic.
I’m a queer man, and calling someone your brother or sister is the safe way to confess that you care a lot about them. I have said that to so many people before dating them. And I’m still friends with them. It’s not weird, it’s not incest. Obviously, you don’t know how a person of the lgbt confesses if you think it’s incest. Besides, it’s not incest at all. They’re not related in any way.
If the showrunners have been fighting for LGBT rep, then it’s these two. Even if it’s not blatantly shown, it very well may as be Shiro and Keith. That “I love you” line was a confession, and I can’t shake it off that their bond will only grow into something more beautiful than it already is.
I’m not a part of this fandom. I can’t care about it. I’m just someone who’s watching the show, nothing else. But I have to say, my lil hopeless romantic heart is betting on their relationship flourishing even more than it already has.
Let’s hope Shiro remembers everything that the clone experienced. I’m not going to shun anyone that thinks it’s strictly platonic, but as for me, the evidence of those two falling for each other is right in front of me. But even if it won’t happen, I’m not going to care. They have the strongest bond. It’s not every day you hear a male character say “I love you” to another male character.

With this new round of fresh discourse™ I think it’s time to make a masterpost of the most illogical and dumb new arguments I’ve seen because y’all are fucking exhausting and every time I see these arguments I can physically feel my brain cells dying. It’s genuinely amazing how far people will contort themselves to try and get a new angle on things to make them problematic.
For the record, I don’t think sh/eith is canon as I don’t think any ships are canon ~~(ignoring L0tura due to S6)~~ so things being canon are irrelevant this is about the ships.

Sh/eith aren’t related. It really does not take a genius to figure that out. Keith confirmed himself in S3 that they aren’t related, so that argument makes no sense. Calling someone your brother doesn’t automatically make them your brother. That literally isn’t how that works. If you treat your legitimate siblings how Sh/eith treat each other then y’all are pretty fucking nasty.
“Shiro adopted Keith.”
Never anywhere has it been said that Shiro adopted Keith. It’s been heavily inferred that Shiro pulled strings to get Keith into the garrison and supported him to try turn his life around and raise him into something better than he may have become otherwise due to the unfortunate circumstances in his life. Shiro was a supportive friend and guide to Keith, not his father.

Keith and Shiro are grown ass men. Shipping them with how they are now does not mean you ship it with Keith as a fucking child. That literally isn’t how it works. The fact Keith and Shiro have known each other since Keith was younger doesn’t mean people who ship Sh/eith think it has been a thing since Keith was a child that isn’t how that works. People who have known each other for years through childhood can develop feelings for each other further down the line as adults I am literally living proof of that with my current irl relationship. Inferring that Sh/eith can only be a thing if it involves grooming Keith as a minor is just adding to the harmful rhetoric homophobes promote that gay men are predators.

Sh/eith is a ship between two grown ass men, it has literally nothing to do with pedophilia. If you’re really trying to argue that a relationship between a 20-21 year old and a 25 year old normalises pedophilia you are dense on a whole new level and I genuinely worry for your mental capacity.

Ok in that famous scene Keith could have let Shiro go and save himself from falling, but he was ready to die with him rather than dropping him

You know what’s really painful? After Keith says he loves Shiro, Shiro tries to tell him that he doesn’t have to keep fighting. He tries to convince Keith that their whole team is gone because he killed them himself. Before that, he tried to make Keith feel completely worthless, like there was no point in living at all, “And I should have abandoned you just like your parents did. They saw that you were broken. Worthless. I should have seen it too.”

But still, Keith keeps fighting. Right until the very end, he’s determined to save Shiro–no matter what. And he fights until he realizes there’s nothing more he can do, that he can choose to either cut his ties with Shiro, to live and let go–or to die with him. And in the end, it’s a choice he makes with a calm sense of total clarity that we rarely see. It’s him ending his life and accepting death, just like the brainwashed Shiro “wanted.” But it’s not because Keith thinks he’s worthless or has nothing left to live for. It’s because he wanted to live on with Shiro more than anything, and he just can’t bear to let him go. He promised to never give up on him. He loves him. It’s as simple as that. And knowing all that, having come to terms with it…he’s at peace.
